Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music are partnering to showcase local musicians through a series of stripped-down performances for the web. This week Minorcan returns to performs “Two Dimes.”
Minorcan frontman Ryan Anderson started as a solo act in Austin, Texas releasing two solo albums, Trains Take Away Old Friends and Garden Path, before forming Minorcan in 2008. The band relocated from Austin to Asheville in 2010 after releasing Keep at Hand.
Minorcan has had many members in all its incarnations, including members from Savannah, Georgia and Neptune Beach, Florida, but the core group at present is Anderson and bassist Joey Terry, who also arranges the band’s songs. Terry also performs with The Poison Control Center, an Iowa based post-pop band. This video for Xpress also features Dustin Goose on drums, who is also a songwriter and performs under the name Dustin & The Furniture.
Minorcan is currently on a hiatus from performing as they seek out a new drummer and prepare to record a new album. You can hear more of their music at minorcanmusic.com or facebook.com/minorcanmusic.
