Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music present: Warm the Bell (round two)

Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music are partnering to showcase local musicians through a series of stripped-down performances for the web. This week Warm the Bell perform “Edge of Night.”

Warm the Bell was formed by Sean Robbins and Vickie Burick, who appear on guitar in this video. The pair had previously played together in a shoegaze-inspired indie-rock band called Nevada. Warm the Bell started out as a three-piece with Sam Brinkley, of Drunken Prayer and Rafe Hollister, on bass. Brinkley now plays drums in Warm the Bell’s current line-up, which also includes Tim Comstock on bass and Bill Kopp on keyboards.

Warm the Bell describes their music as “combining the influences of folk, Americana, indie and psychedelic acid rock with hypnotic cadences, layered and ethereal vocals.” They released their first album You are the Sun in 2013, on which “Edge of Night” appears.  The group hope to start recording their second album (on which “Essential,” from their previous Sherwood’s performance, will appear) this summer.

You can connect with Warm the Bell on Facebook for more upcoming shows or visit warmthebell.com to hear more. Their next show will be at DigFest in August.

This video web series is produced by Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music. Check back each week for a new video featuring Asheville and WNC musicians.

Nothing against the band itself, but do we the readers really need 3 write ups of the same band?
    Slow news day?
