APD looking for Tunnel Road bank robbery suspect

The Asheville Police Department is looking for a suspect involved in the robbery of a First Citizens Bank on Tunnel Road earlier this afternoon. Anyone with information can contact the APD at 828-252-1110

ASHEVILLE – On 09-28-11 at approx. 3:35 pm, the Asheville Police Department responded to an Armed Robbery call at the First Citizens Bank located at 1205 Tunnel Rd. in East Asheville.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a W/M, approx. 5’09”, “heavyset”, wearing a dark colored long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, dark sunglasses, and a camo baseball cap; with a mustache and facial hair is the listed suspect who left in a white chevy (possibly PT Cruiser) towards Swannanoa. 

APD units are still on scene.  Investigation continues…

The APD later, along with photos of the suspect, added the following information:

Suspect did display a black handgun, (unknown make/model).

If identified or located please contact police immediately.  Suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
