Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Every week that goes by, we get to know you bloggers a little bit more. At least we like to think so.

Of course, we already knew some things, like So Much For Tact’s overwhelming need for validation. We also knew of his long-running word-war with Take 5 writer Tim Rawal. But Rawal’s recent departure inspired a very choice send-off from Tact.

We knew that She Who Eats sure does love food, but we didn’t know her enthusiasm was genetic.

We also knew that, on an election night, City Council member Carl Mumpower can usually be found at Magnolia’s. But we did not know that he also sometimes stops by this magnolia, as chronicled by The Ashvillein.

Here’s another thing we didn’t know: How to Take a Fall and Charm of the Highway Strip must be roomies. How else to explain this safety (?) tip, followed by this other report? I mean, how many grenades can there be?

By the by, it’s been awhile since we bid adieu to weatherman Bob Caldwell, but his resurfacing has brought along with it commentary by Ashvegas and Arratik.

We’ve never had any reason to be suspicious of My Weaverville, and we believe her when she says she was spammed, so lay off.

Dancewater has to change the IMPEACH license plate, and now we totally know who they are voting for.

And if these pictures over at Blue Ridge Dreams don’t sum up the season of summer for you, it’s time to turn off the computer and get outside for awhile.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

Before you comment

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.

Thanks for mentioning my blog and the wonderful IMPEACH license plates. I think it is funny that you know who I am voting for – maybe you could tell me, since I haven’t decided yet?
