Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Bele Chere has begun and is bustling in Asheville. The whole thing is an organizational wonder: Good logistics make the world go round, so what can we learn from the blogs this week?

Ashvegas has the lowdown on Xpress’  live Web cam and the complicated logistical plan it took to pull off, and Carolina Mornings has this guide to festival survival (and plugs our Bele Chere guide too!).

On the lighter but no less complicated side, Arratik has this video of the logistics of washing a cat, and Dark Topography is scrambling to organize an art exhibit.

On the how-to front, J.J. Big Paws has this screed on the ins and outs of customer service, and check out this post at Brusin’ Ales to learn proper beer etiquette (also useful for Bele Chere).

And not that you need to know this, but there’s a list of ways to give Girl Named Boo a bad day, and The Ashevillein offers up this photo definition of incongruent.

Special blogger announcement: Gordon at Blogasheville is inviting you to a get together at the Wedge Brewery on Friday, July 25.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service.
