He has your rights in mind

Readers of Mountain Xpress are no strangers to Don Yelton, the Republican candidate in last year’s Buncombe County Clerk of Court race and a dogged critic of the region’s status quo.

Tomorrow (Friday) night at the A-B Tech campus in Asheville, Yelton will host a forum on property rights, including the ever-blistering topics of forced annexation, zoning and eminent domain.

It’s conceived as “a citizen’s forum,” according to Yelton, and will feature a lengthy question-and-answer session. Speakers are expected to include Catherine Heath, vice president of the American Dream Coalition and researcher and co-director of www.stopncannexation.com.

Also on a soapbox will be Mike Thompson of Asheville and his pointed message: “Why liberals are wrong about your rights.”

The forum is especially timely as Buncombe County moves closer to enacting a comprehensive zoning ordinance. It will begin at 6 p.m. at A-B Tech’s Ferguson Auditorium. For more information, call 775-7212 or visit www.citizensspeak.com.

  1. Don Yelton tells it like it is. Should be a good meeting.

Maybe the county commissioners will finally get it:

    ‘No zoning’ means ‘no zoning.’

  2. I hope that there is no zoning in the county. I only say this because I plan on opening an asphalt plant/adult video store right across the street from a local preschool.
