We all know that Asheville has a reputation for being a socially conscious, eco-friendly city. It seems like it would logically follow that support for something like riding the city’s bus system would be strong. We examine that concept in this thread about riding the bus, which reveals that support for public transportation is anything but universal. Or, in the words of forum regular travelah: “Ha’ell no.”

How’s this for a bit of fun? We’ve asked the forum users to describe Asheville in three words. Some of the more entertaining suggestions: Mountains Beer Music; Cultural Narcissm Complex; service industry hipster; and Bring money, Yankee.

It’s easy enough to talk about the specifics of national issues, but what about the broader ideas of national priorities? In this thread, we’ve asked our forum users to prioritize our national priorities. That is, what needs to be fixed, and in what order.

Over in the oft-neglected Fashion, Style & Shopping subforum, we’ve started a rare discussion indeed: Guys talking about shoes.

Recently, the Mountain Xpress posted early details about this year’s Bele Chere lineup. Not surprisingly, the forum crew decided to post their own thoughts on the subject. The overwhelming sentiment: At least the band Cracker is OK.

Who doesn’t like a simple — even outright lame — joke from time to time? Here’s a fun, ongoing thread that’s based around a very straightforward set-up: So a guy walks into a bar … Other entertaining threads from this week include the ongoing Choose your own adventure thread and this thread about the merits of Slip ‘n’ Slide parties.

Don’t see a discussion about that burning topic you’d like to talk about? Why not start your own? All registered members of MountainX.com have forum accounts, and if you aren’t a member, joining is easy — just click here.

“Travelah”, that’s a funny way to say “traveler”. Isn’t that the way they talk up in yankeeland? I’ve peaked at that forum now and again and I’ve got to agree with Brad. Not very interesting. You just have a handful of people with no life posting all the time, like some of them above. Hey boys and girls (for “travelah” that would be “goils”) I’ve got an idea. It’s nice weather out with the summer coming on. Why don’t y’all get out from behind your computers, go outside, and have some fun.

Nice to see ya back Cullen, too bad you can’t behave and play with the rest of the children.

It’s funny how he posts under multiple names in order to agree with himself.

And by ‘funny’, i mean ‘an indicator of someone with serious mental issues’.

I wonder if all his assumed names ever get together and hang out and have beers or something?
