It’s ironic that the democrat party has decided to bring in the big guns for Shuler when he was one of the few who went against Obama’s healthcare and stimulous spending. I used to like Shuler, but his lying attack commercials against Miller have soured me on him. Also, if Clinton is coming to town, hide your teenage daughters! :g)

2. Piffy!

Where’s Obamma? I thought he loved it here?

Funny, seeing as you were one of the loudest critics of his visit.

3. Ha, hahahaha, haha, hahahahha. You wacky guys and your funny and insightful comments. Wow! Whew! I need to catch my breath everytime I come in here to read some of the fun things you guys post. Wow! It’s almost like it’s too much fun reading these wacky things! I just know there’s a lot of serious thought behind these posts! There has to be! There’s just so much hilarity and it’s all posted with such strength and clarity of vision that sometimes I don’t know if I should laugh more or go out and beat up old people. It’s really a tough call. After all, beating up old people is a lot like posting these really snarky comments. I like beating them up and saying, “Where’s your Obamma now?” Especially because I bet more than a few of them totally understand the racial undertones of a joke like that but not that there are any racial overtones there, no, there couldn’t be in this kind of humor, could there? And “Moochelle” I laughed so hard I spit some “moo juice” out of my “nose”. Wow. And hide your daughters? Wow! Yes! That’s just the kind of awesome insight that really brings this election into the sharpest of sharp focus. Just brilliant.

Whew.

Wow.

I think I need a nap.

Wow.

Hehehhhehhehhhehhehhhhhehehehehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

“Where’s Obamma? I thought he loved it here?
Moochelle?” — Bunky

LOL, right you are Bunky. Maybe Obama is still sore at Shuler for voting against him on that bad healthcare bill, and on that national bankrupting “stimulous” bill. OR…maybe it is obvious to the DNC that Shuler is a lost cause.

@Stan: LOL, it does sound funny that fathers should watch their teenage daughters carefully while Clinton is here, but also has a ring of truth to it.

5. Dionysis

“if Clinton is coming to town, hide your teenage daughters! :g)”

Yuck yuck yuck. Had it been any number of Republican politicians coming to town, the warning would be more like “hide your teenage sons and gay prostitutes.”

Bill Clinton destroyed a young girls life so much so she can’t even live in the US any longer. He made a joke of himself and worse … her.

Not very Presidential and totally inexcusable.

“Bill Clinton destroyed a young girls life so much so she can’t even live in the US any longer. He made a joke of himself and worse … her.

Not very Presidential and totally inexcusable.”

Not to try and excuse his indiscretions, but she was hardly a “young girl” as an intern. Young woman maybe. And in spite of this, Bill Clinton has maintained a high favorability rating, with more than 6 in 10 adults rating him highly (and that includes moderates and independents).

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/morning-fix/1-2-3-the-bizarre.html

And it was probably no less ‘un presidential’ than others (Eisenhower and Kay Summersby, LBJ and hookers in every state, George H.W. Bush’s several affairs {including a serious one with Jennifer Fitzgerald}, Ronald Reagan leaving his first wife for Nancy) to name a few.

8. aliberalinsc

The “hide your teenage daughters” comment was pretty witty coming from a hillbilly. We all know you want to keep your teenage daughters for yourselves. Stir up that gene pool, stop in-breeding, then maybe you can form a semi-intelligent comment. CLINTON RULES !!!

All i hear is talk about health coverage for our children, seniors citizens, & adult children the option to stay on their parents coverage.
What about the SINGLE individual who has worked for 20-35 yrs.with no insurance and no financial assistance. After paying my own taxes through my counseling agency does not assist. I have a carpaymt.,medication, rent, groceries, gas & misc. and caring for my mother who has alzheimer’s dementia, rent, misc. I have NOTHING>>>How MANY vacations, cruises, trips have you & your family been on in the past yr.? I went to school for 19 yrs. and at one point made $50,000 a yr. , now because i want to make a difference with people in WNC I make $24,000 a yr. ( and I still am paying on my school loans at 54 yrs old!!!
Explain to me how I can tell my clients who live w/nothing, go to food banks, haven’t seen a new piece of clothing in 8 yrs. and go to bed cold because Mt. Projects says it has to be at least 28 below Zero before thay can help w/ heating assistance among some 4100 families and individuals in just ! county. And have you ever gone through the process of getting any help at all through DSS, Christain Ministries, Salvation army,… It’s hrs of paper work and paper work that is repetitive.

“Not to try and excuse his indiscretions, but …”

But … but, you excuse his actions.

If it were your daughter, I’m pretty sure you’d be on the hunt to make him pay for what he did.

If a Republican had done the same things, woman’s groups of the left and the political left would be going bananas over the abuse of power and the utter destruction of Monica.

Complete hypocrisy

11. Dionysis

“Not to try and excuse his indiscretions, but …”

“But … but, you excuse his actions.”

No, I did not excuse anything. Quit lying.

“If it were your daughter, I’m pretty sure you’d be on the hunt to make him pay for what he did.”

And if I was king of the world, we’d have world peace too. Anyone can speculate and issue some personal opinion.

“If a Republican had done the same things, woman’s groups of the left and the political left would be going bananas over the abuse of power and the utter destruction of Monica.”

So you’re rejoinder continues to be speculation, assumptions and opinions?

Yawn.

“Complete hypocrisy”

It seems pretty clear you throw that word out without really understanding its meaning. And in spite of your whining, Clinton continues to enjoy favorability ratings that no Republican will ever know. Choke on it.

12. brebro

I think the person who destroyed her life was Linda Tripp. If I recall, Bill was pretty hesitant to even bring the issue up in public.

13. JWTJr

“I think the person who destroyed her life was Linda Tripp. If I recall, Bill was pretty hesitant to even bring the issue up in public.”

Linda Tripp certainly helped destroy Monica, but Bill was the main perp. Our President who created ‘Clinton Sex’ for all our children to laugh about and do since there is ‘zero’ harm in it.

Its just sex between adults right? No, it was the President and a subordinate whom he destroyed with his hormones and power trip.

Of course, he never wanted to bring it up in public. It was shameful. Who would want to display their short comings like that?

D – when you say, “I’m not going to defend them but …” it’s short hand for ‘cut them some slack, it wasn’t so bad’. Wrong, it was bad.

14. Dionysis

“D – when you say, “I’m not going to defend them but …” it’s short hand for ‘cut them some slack, it wasn’t so bad’. Wrong, it was bad.”

Thanks for trying to tell me what I actually meant, but I think I’ll reserve that for myself. Had you actually not taken a few words out of context, the whole sentence had to do with the fact that a 20-something college graduate is not a “little girl.”

And conceding that his behavior was “bad” doesn’t elevate it as worse than other adulterous behaviors by presidents of both parties in the past. Clinton detractors seem to be completely oblivious to anything he ever did save the Monica Lewinsky affair. If we ever become a theocracy and elect presidents to serve as national morality guardians, such behavior might justify this fixation.

15. JWTJr

Also D, she was 22 when it started. She was young and dumb. He took advantage and should have known better.

16. Dionysis

“D – so what if other Presidents did it? It was bad then too.”

I don’t disagree.

“Also D, she was 22 when it started. She was young and dumb. He took advantage and should have known better.”

Just as I noted earlier, she was a young woman, not a “young girl.” How ‘dumb’ (I assume you actually meant naive, as she was not ‘dumb’) she was is conjecture.

And once again, the umbrage Clinton detractors exhibit over this ethical lapse has assumed gargantuan proportions, as if he was the only president to ever stray from his marriage, and as if other than this affair, he did nothing else. I can understand why those that champion a failed political view would want to keep the focus on this personal failing and ignore the fact that Clinton’s policies benefitted the country dramatically. Smoke and mirrors, phoney outrage and diversion are the most powerful tools the GOP has in its arsenal.

17. brebro

He is certainly culpable in engaging in the consensual, yet inappropriate conduct with an intern, I agree. However, the consequences that you described as ““Bill Clinton destroyed a young girls life so much so she can’t even live in the US any longer. He made a joke of himself and worse … her.” were not the result of President Clinton or Monica bringing the issue to the forefront of the 24-hour news cycle. The guy even made a point of lying about when asked! No, the people to blame for her notoriety and public scrutiny are more appropriately Linda Tripp and a GOP looking for anything to pin on a President they did not want in office (after Whitewater, and all the other things they tried didn’t do the trick).

He isn’t innocent of blame for creating the problem in general, but for the specific things you mention, there are others I’m sure Monica would point the finger at first.

18. bobaloo

Our President who created ‘Clinton Sex’ for all our children to laugh about and do since there is ‘zero’ harm in it.

Your memory is short. It was Ken Star and the ridiculous witch hunt perpetrated by a Republican congress that loathed him.

Moochelle?

Hahaha! It’s funny because she’s fat!

19. Daoofknow

We love Clinton. I think Pres. Obama should come to Asheville and stand on stage with Billy graham. That would blow the mind of most of the Tea Party, besides old Billy is just old enough to be looking for real salvation. I dont think that Pres. Clinton should back Shuler and Biltmore Baptist, they dont stand for the Dem. party anymore than the Tea Party does… Dont dirty yourself with people who stand against civil rights.. Heath Shuler stands against womens rights and he stands with Biltmore Baptist who spread hate for the gay community.

20. Piffy!

Bill Clinton and Heath Shuler represents everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party.

21. Dao Of Know

Shuler does but Pres. Clinton despite playing with the right and getting potheads locked up has done amazing things.. Shuler is a DINO. Off to show my support of Bill Now proudly wearing my TYT Army shirt Woot!!

22. JWTJr

“Your memory is short. It was Ken Star and the ridiculous witch hunt perpetrated by a Republican congress that loathed him.”

My memory? Was Ken in the room with slick Willy and Monica making them do it all those times? I think not. It was 95% Bill’s womanizing and 5% Monica’s youth that’s responsible for the mess and his impeachment. Blaming Ken Starr is excusing Bill’s actions and his destruction of Monica.

They call him slick willy because people keep excusing his actions. You are doing a fine job.

23. Dionysis

“My memory? Was Ken in the room with slick Willy and Monica making them do it all those times? I think not. It was 95% Bill’s womanizing and 5% Monica’s youth that’s responsible for the mess and his impeachment. Blaming Ken Starr is excusing Bill’s actions and his destruction of Monica.

Still stuck in some time warp from the past, huh? Still trying to revise history too, it seems. Well, perhaps you might want to refresh your memory (yes, that would be YOUR memory), if you can manage to deal with facts.

“This started out of Whitewater… “And it escalated into this thing that almost derailed [Clinton’s] presidency. It turned into the Monica Lewinsky investigation, which then turned into the second impeachment trial in history. And it’s an event that almost every American remembers and had strong opinions about — like the assassination or the removal of Nixon…

The investigation of Bill Clinton began in January of 1994, when Attorney General Janet Reno appointed special prosecutor Robert Fiske to head the Whitewater investigation. Fiske’s appointment first “prompted universal praise… among Republicans.”

The praise lasted for several months — until Fiske wrapped up his criminal investigation within six months of his appointment. The short investigation, combined with Fiske’s announcement that there was “no evidence that issues involving Whitewater, or other personal legal matters of the president or Mrs. Clinton were a factor in [Vince] Foster’s suicide,” caused Republicans to declare Fiske “unfit for the job,” writes Gormley.

When Congress decided the reauthorize the independent counsel investigation, the three-judge panel overseeing the independent counsel decided to replace Fiske with another attorney named Kenneth Starr…

In December of 1997, Starr shut down the Whitewater investigation due to insufficient evidence. A month later, Linda Tripp called Deputy Independent Counsel Jackie Bennett and said she had taped conversions with Monica Lewinsky about an affair with the President.

The decision to move from Whitewater to Lewinsky, says Gormley, “altered Ken Starr’s legacy as a prosecutor.”

“There is no question that [Starr’s office] had lost perspective… “Their job was not to get a person — it was to investigate.”

…although of ALL the things to complain about Bill Clinton, his relationship with Ms Lewinski seems a rather trivial, partisan matter. What about his support of NAFTA? What about his aggressive neo-liberal foreign policy?

Also, let’s not forget one of those who led the charge against Clinton’s infidelities was Republican Mark Sanford. Clinton didn’t ‘ruin’ Ms Lewisnki’s life. That’s is a serious absurd claim.

25. JWTJr

Yes, D, all that made Bill do it … he was driven to be a serial philanderer by the evil Ken Starr and the vast right wing conspiracy.

Those actions were his. Everything else you mention is off topic to the fact that Slick Willy destroyed Monica with his uncontrollable sex drive.

Keep up the defense though … its interesting to see how far you will go to deflect this particular character flaw of his. Yeah but …

Hey pal, if you want to stew in this decades-old controversy (since that seems you and your fellow self-righteous moralizers have nothing positive to promote from your side), then knock yourself out. Trying to rehash ancient history may seem worthwhile to you, but in spite of your best efforts, Clinton remains the most popular politician in the country (or former politician). I’m sure that just frosts your gonads.

27. JWTJr

Ancient history? It was during his presidency and totally relevant. Its the first thing people smirk about when his name comes up … the cigar.

Nice legacy he left for himself.

28. JWTJr

“Clinton didn’t ‘ruin’ Ms Lewisnki’s life. That’s is a serious absurd claim.”

Yes, being chased out of your own country by the paparazzi is something we all strive for.

Bill should have known better than to place himself and her in that situation. He was the more mature of the two … arguably … and unfortunately that gets him the blame.

29. Dionysis

“Ancient history? It was during his presidency and totally relevant.”

In political time, it’s ancient history.

“Its the first thing people smirk about when his name comes up … the cigar.”

Yeah, no doubt the 6,000 or more who showed up today to hear him were smirking to high heaven with Monica on their minds.

“Nice legacy he left for himself.”

No one gives a flip these days except some right-wingers. Keep wallowing in it, it’s your life and time.

30. JWTJr

“No one gives a flip these days except some right-wingers. Keep wallowing in it, it’s your life and time.”

Why are you spending so much time on it then if you don’t care?

31. JWTJr

Would you have the same opinion if it were your daughter that some guy your age did that to?

32. Dionysis

“Why are you spending so much time on it then if you don’t care?”

You’re right. I have spent way too much time responding to your personal hang-up. If you wish to continue to keep your panties in a bunch over the fact that Clinton (who the right has always hated anyway) received an unauthorized polishing of the presidential knob nearly two decades ago, so be it. Evidently, it galls you to no end that he can draw such crowds and enjoys such popularity. Gee, that’s just too bad.

“Would you have the same opinion if it were your daughter that some guy your age did that to?”

I don’t know. If she was plug-ugly, I might thank him.

33. JWTJr

“Would you have the same opinion if it were your daughter that some guy your age did that to?”

I don’t know. If she was plug-ugly, I might thank him”

Nice of you to share that with us. Its quite informative.

34. Killarue

Conservatives focus on change from within. Liberals focus on change in environment, so I’ve heard and I think this debate confirms. Clinton committed a highly immoral act. The GOP created a 50+ billion dollar witch hunt to find this out. Partisan politics did not serve us well! Clinton should not be excused for this behavior; but also, his success as a politician should not be whitewashed with it either. Time for all of us to move forward, like the repubs are doing after Bushy;), but the dems won’t allow.

35. Piffy!

Would you have the same opinion if it were your daughter that some guy your age did that to?

Such insightul policy critique.
