The Commish campaign on YouTube

It’s the day before the primary election: If you’re still wrestling with a decision about which candidate to vote for in the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners race, many of them have put up YouTube videos to make their pitch.

Democratic candidate (and former Xpress staffer) Cecil Bothwell touts (complete with synth intro) his role in investigating former Buncombe County Sheriff Bobby Medford, now facing federal corruption charges. Bothwell’s endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama‘s presidential campaign is also up.

Commissioner Carol Peterson, a Democrat running for her second term, has a series of interviews up on YouTube, recorded last March (including some defending her controversial vote on a proposed power plant in Woodfin). In this one, she talks about the challenges she’s faced as a commissioner:

Here’s a commercial for longtime activist Don Yelton‘s run in the Republican primary. He puts his anti-zoning stance front and center and says he’s commited to cleaning up the contaminated CTS of Asheville site.

Republican candidate Michael Fryar put the announcement of his run up as well:

  1. I believe the Carol Peterson video was filmed and used by some local bloggers who opposed her on the Woodfin Power Plant Issue on a very short-lived blog.
