Today at 1 p.m., Gov. Bev Perdue officially announced that North Carolina will establish a state-federal health exchange under the federal Affordable Health Care Act (an exchange is a one-stop shop for people to buy health insurance). The announcement comes under a fast-approaching deadline that other states around the country are currently facing since they must notify the federal government by tomorrow, Nov. 16, about which health exchange they will establish.
Hours after the Supreme Court announced its landmark ruling on health care, Mission Health CEO and President Ron Paulus made his own statement about what the 5-4 ruling means on the local level. His verdict? The ripple effect of health care reform remains to be seen. Above, Paulus reads his statement about the ruling. (Photo by Caitlin Byrd)
