Letter writer: Enforcing the bathroom law

Graphic by Lori Deaton

As a male-to-female transgender, I am eagerly awaiting the day when some officious toady denies me the use of a ladies’ room, at which point I shall say, “While you stand there dissecting my gender, I’m going to wet my pants.” Is that something you really want to have happen? Really?”

If you’re dumb enough to piss your pants, why would Mr Toady care?.I’d smh and laugh at you. No wait… I’d laugh at you and smh.

  2. A violation of bathroom use, irrespective of HB2, is a misdemeanor trespass and enforcement is complaint-driven. It always has been. The UNC School of Government explains how various violations can be viewed:

Sex-segregated public facilities are a fairly recent feminist victory fought for in the Victorian Era when there were no facilities for women in the cities of Britain. This is well documented by feminist scholar Sheila Jeffreys in the Women’s Studies International Forum 45 (2014) 42–51: http://bit.ly/2lwX51Z

Even feminist of today oppose abolishing sex-segregated facilities:

Then you wouldn’t need to use the restroom anymore. Problem solved.

    *Whew!* That was easy!
