Letter writer: Women’s marches lacked mature focus

Graphic by Lori Deaton

For proof that the left’s tired script tracks back to Woodstock, lava lamps and troll dolls, witness the recent bazillion-gazillion women’s march. Spellbound souls in Asheville, Washington and sister cities found a venue to replay the oldies — and dazzle an army of media foils equally hungry for an opportunity to discredit the president.

Sorry, but as members of the most blessed batch of liberated women in history, the pretense of marching for gender consideration was like my organizing a sit-in supporting the right to be a conservative white guy. We’ve both got our chance to be pretty much anything we wish. The question now is what are we going to do with that opportunity?

While marching ladies attempt to inspire with profanity-laced signage and knitted pink vagina headgear, more mature men and women are focusing on building a future that finds our nation fed, sheltered, employed, secure and free. For female culturists considering a plot more relevant to the 21st century, may one offer an observation? Pouting is not a particularly powerful path to progress.

Doesn’t take long at all for for the “open-minded, tolerant” crowd to show up with typically immature comments. Different day, same hypocrites.

    • luther blissett

Is it hypocrisy for tolerance not to extend to the toleration of lies, smears and misrepresentations?

      • The Real World

What are you talking about? It’s an opinion letter not an encyclopedia. So, yes, you are supposed to be tolerant of all sorts of opinions. Does that actually require explanation? Apparently so.

Meanwhile, I read no reasonable rebuttals here. Just snipey, childish potshots and calling the author a liar.

Reality-check: women can do much better than stomping the pavement while wearing absurd hats and ranting about what exactly? And the positive results from that are what?

        • Peter Robbins

You do know what dignified remarks inspired the “absurd” hats, don’t you? Consider that a reasonable rebuttal.

        • NFB

LOL. Groups that spent 8 years absurdly claiming the president was a Muslim born in Kenya, or Indonesia, or wherever want to lecture anti-Trump protesters about their tactics.

          Too funny!

        • luther blissett

          “and ranting about what exactly?”

This is just a scaled-up example of the attitude in far too many business meetings across the country, where a woman makes a suggestion and is ignored, then Brad from marketing makes the same suggestion and all the bosses decide it’s a great idea, well done Brad. You weren’t listening because you couldn’t be bothered to listen. But you decided that it was worth your time to defend Dr. Mumpower.

Well said, as always, Carl! Typical and expected responses from the out-of-touch liberal crowd. Thinking that their put-downs are clever or useful in any way. What is needed is a thinking group of people such as your letter describes, who might stand a chance to actually unite this country and and help us show kindness to everyone, instead of vitriol.

  3. Peter Robbins

It wasn’t a sit-in, but they did hold a rally for angry old white men the day before the Women’s March. Didn’t draw much of crowd. The so-called leader was a disaster. Very, very nasty. SAD!

I was there an photographed it for the Villager Newspaper in New York City. I saw signs and groups that supported everything from Women’s Health Care to Immigrant Rights to No DAPL and almost every issue that Women seem to be concerned about because of the Trump election. I thought it was a big success and enjoyed photographing women participants of all ages. Thanks to all who participated and organized it.

What gets me is why do these liberals bring their kids to these protests when they know they are going to be walking around in front of weird people with vagina heads and fake penis’s…or is that penises….anyway WTH? Great article Carl!…..I mean old man! :-P

    • bsummers

Maybe they go there specifically for their kids to see those things – did you ever think of that, huh? Once again, I’ve run rings round you logically, Chad…

Hey, off the subject somewhat – please tell us you’re in the running for BCGOP Chairman again. That would be awesome!

    • luther blissett

      ^-^

      It’s a cat, Chad.

You know what’s a weird public spectacle? Getting little kids to sit on horses at the I-240 mall exit.

  6. luther blissett

I don’t know if it’s more disturbing that Mumplestiltskin doesn’t know what a cat looks like, or what a vagina looks like.

Is he adding “mansplaining” to his clinical speciality list?

  7. bsummers

Pouting is not a particularly powerful path to progress.

Hey, Carl – lay off Joe Dunn!

    • Peter Robbins

One of the signs at the march congratulated our new POUTUS. You can’t get much more conciliatory than that.

  8. Don

I love how the right-wing neocons are still mansplaining the Women’s march until they’re red (pink ;) in the face…. you’re not the least bit threatened by it, were you all? LOL

    • Lulz

LOL, no. I mean where else can spoiled women protest to kill their unborn children and think they’re in the right. And while many won’t be in a situation to kill their children, in the end they’ll probably end up alone. With no children to speak of.

  9. Peter Robbins

Think of the Women’s March as Trump’s boot camp. As I understand, some shouting occurs.
