Why would our Legislature stifle job growth?

North Carolina job growth would be hurt if the Legislature passes House Bill 298. This bill would dismantle the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard established by a bipartisan legislature in 2007.

The reason for the REPS was to offer a way for utilities to diversify fuel choices by having a small percentage of energy from renewable sources like solar and wind. This is just what has happened. Also, our state, because of REPS, has experienced a proliferation of clean energy industries: more than 1,000 N.C. companies and 15,000 clean energy jobs have been generated.

According to Ivan Urlaub, the executive director of the N.C. Sustainable Energy Association, “Policies such as North Carolina’s REPS law have proven to be a workhorse for the state, not only in terms of the increased choice for energy sources they produce, but also for the thousands of new jobs, expanded business opportunities, and needed cost savings they generate.”

I urge readers to contact their local legislators. We need policies like REPS to create jobs and to promote clean energy industries right here in N.C. Find your representative at http://www.ncleg.net.

Grace honey, if the government must subsidize it then it is NOT a sustainable business. Understand?

Do you know of the BILLION$$$ that Obongo has frittered away on solar energy scam companies?

We are sick of this crap and tired of making some people a lot of foolish money (ie Brownie Newman!)
    Enough of the BS !!!

  2. boatrocker

Just out of curiousity, Unaffiliated Voter, are you pissed off over a country having taken away the 1st and 4th Amendment in 2002 as well as bankrupting its youth over illegal wars for oil and foreign influence in order feed the always hungry multi-nationally corporate driven Military Industrial Complex over its own citizens?

‘Obongo’ as your (legally 2x) elected leader is cute too. Too bad you can’t post black jokes here for getting banned.

Happy Memorial Day. It’s called dissent.

Did Obama restore those “lost” Constitutional rights? When and how? I must have missed the news release.

And which illegal war did he end? Seems to me he just maintained the schedule set by Dubya, making him an accessory to the “crime”.

Kinda hard to reward one president and punish the other until you can identify where one ends and the other begins. We should just label 2000-2016 the Era of Duboma.

Duboma, that has a great ring to it!

I’d like to think the current guy at least has a bit less dirt under his nails so to speak than the last guy, but by no means is he perfect.

One question though, if anything subsidized by the gov’t is unsustainable, why haven’t we privatized our military like our prisons, farms, schools, hospitals, etc?

I’m picturing our fearsome fighting forces with uniforms covered in sponsor patches like the NASCAR drivers wear. Haliburton, Exxon, Colt, Monsanto, etc. would probably love to get their claws on the rights to that.

“I’d like to think the current guy at least has a bit less dirt under his nails so to speak than the last guy…”

How quaint. Funny how less offended we are at political shenanigans when it is the guy from “our side” who perpetrates them. Bush was enough to purge me of any further sense of loyalty to the Republicans, but Obama gets a pass on scandals that cumulatively surpass the oft-quoted Watergate: using the FBI to intimidate the press, using the IRS to deny the rights of opposing no-profits, and using the State Dept. to lie about the murder of a US Ambassador, an act which, under previous administrations, was tantamount to an act of war, but now it’s just..eh.. an inconvenience.

But he’s black. And “progressive”. So just leave poor Barry alone.

  6. boatrocker

Wait, wait, I don’t have a TV- what do you mean he’s black?

Humor aside, au contraire, mon frere- the new guy ain’t on my side, nor I on his. I haven’t found a political party that goes in for common sense yet but I’ll let you know when I find one.

I just like knowing that blame, like a proper coating of paint or wood finish sometimes needs to be spread more thickly on those trouble spots. It says so on the can “make sure surface is dry and free of dirt”.

I must have not read the part where you weigh in about privatizing the military instead of it being under government control to ensure proper success without financial mismanagement or self serving corruption.
