Martin Ramsey for a better Asheville

Dear millennials (and everyone else) of Asheville: I enthusiastically encourage you to vote for Martin Ramsey for mayor in the Oct. 8 primary.

You already know that as Asheville continues to grow, the cost of living continues to rise, and yet wages remain the same. Most of us find ourselves with less and less to work with when it comes to affordable housing, food security, access to health care and other basic needs. Meanwhile, the city continues to bring us hotels and other out-of-state corporate enterprises that don’t support true, local equitable growth.

Martin Ramsey is the only candidate proposing substantial possibilities for altering our current path, through innovative approaches to community development at the ground level. Rather than the same old closed-door deals, his plan emphasizes the cooperative involvement of all Asheville residents in making the decisions that affect our future.

When growth is equitable, everyone wins: all of us — not just bankers, lawyers, and business executives (though they still win too). Equitable growth means people can afford to stay in their homes and buy groceries. People can live closer to their jobs, reducing carbon emissions and creating a greener Asheville. And more people can afford to buy local, further supporting the many wonderful businesses that are often beyond the price range of so many of us who actually live and work here.

Martin Ramsey’s campaign offers the possibility of a new direction that benefits all of us. We need a better way forward, and we need it now.

You are inheriting the future of Asheville. What do you want it to look like? Learn more about Martin’s vision for our city at martinramseyformayor.org, and vote him for mayor on Oct. 8.

Even better, vote early.

It is a rare event for me to publicly endorse a political candidate, much less work for one. There

I am a post-millenial proudly voting for Martin Ramsey. I am so pleased to be able to vote for someone that has integrity, energy, and ideas.

I hope people are inspired to get out and vote this time because it might actually make a difference in our lives.

I know it’s gotten bad when I think of our local “leaders” the thought evokes images of; scolding Cecil and his scolding water carriers, corporate cronyism Esther with developer/special interest dollars coming out of the top of her head, “bestest ever!!!” Gordon…whose excessive cheering is like the Geiko piggy shouting wheee wheee wheee all the way home.

It’s not about me Barry, it’s about our leadership. Try to stay on topic.

That’s rich. The thread is about Martin Ramsey. You ignore him, but launch another mean-spirited swipe at Cecil, Esther and Gordon. (BTW, I’ve had any number of disagreements with Gordon, but I find your little ‘pig’ video to be over the line.)

      And I’m the one who’s off-topic.
