Empty Bowls is an international movement to end hunger and food insecurity, but the charity operates at a local level. Organizers will hold the annual Asheville fundraiser to benefit MANNA FoodBank on Sept. 15.
The tourism industry already brings in $2.3 billion annually to Buncombe County. That’s up from roughly $183 million 30 years ago. But to continue to grow local visitation, government officials and business owners need to “anticipate trends that are shaping the future,” says Mike Konzen, a leading global consultant.
The Biltmore Coffee Co. opened on Aug.1 at 1 N. Pack Square, on the ground floor of the I.M. After a final inspection, project leaders anticipate that the new, six-acre “solar farm” at the Biltmore Estate will begin delivering power to Antler Hill Village next week.
