From a press release:
Motive: new exhibit by abstract artist Douglas Lail
Asheville-born artist, Douglas Lail, exhibits his abstract paintings at the office of RE/MAX Results in Asheville (Photos attached). Lail’s industrial influenced mixed media abstractions are distinguished by multiple layers of texture, color and organic forms. Lail says, “I draw inspiration from vacant buildings in Asheville’s River Arts District as well as other timeworn structures in and around town. My current abstracts are gritty, less refined reminders of the ever-present tension between man and nature.” These works combine non-traditional materials with a multilayer approach. This heuristic process involves numerous cycles of building up and stripping away. “I’m less concerned with preserving the surface, but rather discovering what lies beneath.” His latest work focuses on the transformative power of air and water.
The work of Douglas Lail is on display through September 30 at RE/MAX Results. The exhibit is open to the public at no charge from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. RE/MAX Results is located at 34 Orange Street, Asheville.
