Press release from N.C. Department of Transportation:

N.C. Department of Transportation crews have established a detour for an upcoming bridge maintenance project on the southern segment of Mills Gap Road.

An NCDOT bridge maintenance team will begin permanent repairs to the deck of a bridge on Mills Gap Road over Cane Creek on Monday.

The detour directs drivers to Cane Creek Road and back to Mills Gap Road. Residents in the Hooper’s Creek area will utilize this detour during construction.

NCDOT officials anticipate completing the maintenance project in four to six weeks depending on weather conditions.

Transportation officials remind drivers to slow down in work zones and obey all posted signs.
