Press release from TEDxAsheville:
Join us for a celebration of the thought leaders and ideas that are building bridges and opening doors at TEDxAsheville 2022 on Sunday, February 27th, at 1:00 pm in the heart of Pack Square’s Cultural District at the Wortham Center For The Performing Arts. Tickets are now on sale via their website. https://www.worthamarts.org/events/tedx-asheville/
TEDxAsheville 2022 is celebrating ten plus years of ideas worth spreading and conversations worth having! With an ongoing mission to bring like-minded individuals together to create, collaborate, and innovate at the highest level, TEDxAsheville is independently organized by enthusiastic community leaders that seek to spark in-depth discussion and connection. This year’s speakers include: Maiysha Clairbone, J Hackett, Lyndon Harris, Ginger Huebner, Jeffrey Kaplan, Jennifer MacDonald, Nikki Robinson, and Hannah Williams.
“I joined the TEDxAsheville team in 2018”, says Stephanie Twitty of Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation, a former volunteer of the event, “because I was keenly aware of the lack of diversity and equitable-inclusiveness. I believe we are making a significant impact by also uplifting thought leaders of color and creating a more diverse audience. Many of our participants have gone on to do great things. For example, standout speaker Tracey Greene Washington’s published work, Choosing Purposeful Alignment: The Messy Middle of Transformation, has just earned an international book award”.
The TEDx initiative grants free licenses to people around the world to organize TED-style events in their communities with TED Talks and live speakers. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Platinum sponsors for this year’s event include CLARKNEXSEN, VBell Design, Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation, and Stand & Deliver Asheville.
“TEDx Asheville 2022 provides a platform to celebrate our gifts and share in the process of rediscovering the power of community. I am personally delighted, inspired and uplifted by the multitudes of contributions from so many people… from the speakers, organizers, attendees, graphic designers, videographers, sponsors and volunteers. The community steps into the red circle and says ‘Yes, I want to contribute my part’,” Barrie Barton, the new TEDxAsheville executive producer, explains.
