City of Asheville sanitation collection resumes today, city offices and community centers to open at 10 a.m.

As road conditions begin to improve City of Asheville Public Works staff continued to plow and salt roads Tuesday night. Snow efforts continue on secondary roads (priority 2 streets) and sidewalks.

Here are some updates to City services that were impacted by the weather event:

  • City Sanitation collections begin for the week today, Wednesday, Jan. 19. Collection will operate Wednesday-Saturday two days later than normal. Central Business District customers will stay on their regular Wednesday morning schedule.

  • Asheville City Offices will operate a delayed schedule, opening at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, Jan. 19.
  • City Community Centers will operate a delayed schedule, opening at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, Jan. 19.
  • As City and County schools are scheduled to operate on a remote learning plan, select community centers will host Fun Day Out from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Register at AVLRec.com or call individual community centers.
  • ART bus service plans to operate regular service on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Bus schedules can be found on the Transit Webpage.
