Press release from NC DOT:
The N.C. Department of Transportation wants more small, women- and minority-owned businesses to compete for state transportation contracts.
This month, NCDOT’s Division of Highways of Office of Civil Rights are hosting outreach meetings in all 14 highway divisions to help educate disadvantaged enterprises, or DBEs, how to do business with the Department. These include small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
The outreach event for the Asheville-based division (Buncombe, Burke, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Rutherford, and Yancey counties) will be from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19.
All of the outreach events will include information on the types of contracts NCDOT has available. Those include construction, paving, mowing, landscaping, traffic control, litter removal, and emergency response work like removing snow and ice from roads.
NCDOT staff will be available to explain how to do business with the agency, how businesses become certified and prequalified to bid on state transportation contracts, as well as how contracts are awarded and upcoming contracting opportunities in the area.
