Asheville Police investigating two armed robberies in Carrier Park

From Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police Detectives are investigating two separate incidents of armed robberies that occurred in Carrier Park on Amboy Road in which two women were robbed at gunpoint.

In the first incident, patrol officers responded to Carrier Park on Amboy Road at 8:53 p.m. on June 18 in reference to an armed robbery. The victim told the officers a group of males started following her while walking on the track, and as she attempted to enter her vehicle, she was approached by the group, who then threatened her at gunpoint and demanded her keys. The suspects then took the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. Thankfully, officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle nearby, parked and unoccupied. Officers searched the surrounding area and were unable to locate the suspects.

In the second incident of an attempted armed robbery at the same location, officers responded around 9:45 p.m. on June 19. The victim told officers a group of males approached her while hanging a flyer, threatening her at gunpoint, and demanded her keys. The woman refused, began to walk away, and yelled for help when one of the suspects hit her in the head with the gun object before fleeing.

Victims describe the suspects as three young males, potentially juveniles. One of the males was noticeably taller than the others.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating this case and are asking the public for any information they might have.
