APD seeks public’s help after deadly Monday shooting

Asheville Police Department Detectives are investigating a Monday evening shooting that left one man dead.

APD officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound at a residence on Allen Avenue around 5:44 p.m. on September 23. There, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Information on the identity of the shooting victim is being withheld until detectives can confirm their identity and complete next-of-kin notifications.

Criminal Investigations Division Detectives responded to the scene along with Forensic Technician’s and are currently investigating the shooting.

This is the 8th homicide investigated by the Asheville Police Department this year.

Detectives ask if anyone has any information about the incident to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store). You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
