Billed as "a volatile black comedy for the darkest night of the year," John Crutchfield's latest play, Solstice, promises (according to the playwright), "Fisticuffs! Bad cell reception! Strange noises! A wooden sword! A Darth Vader mask! The return of the repressed! An attractive girl wearing an apron and little else!" It stars Glenn Reed, Scott Fisher and Lisa Smith and opens at The Magnetic Field on Saturday, Jan. 14. Previews run Thursday and Friday, Jan. 12 and 13 for $8; the play is staged Thursdays-Saturdays through Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Tickets are $12 for Thursday shows and $15 on Fridays and Saturdays. http://www.themagneticfield.com/solstice.
