With contemporary dance works ranging from soft and tender to athletic and fierce, Eisenhower Dance company combines dramatic choreography with striking technique to create performances that have been lauded by critics. According to a press release, Asheville audiences can expect a diverse lineup of works, including an innovative piece by Laurie Eisenhower that “utilizes old recordings of narrated music lessons spliced with new music samples,” as well as a suite of five dances to Southern blues music. The Michigan-based dance company performs at the Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. Pre-show discussion at 7 p.m. Tickets: Regular $35; student $30; child $15; student rush day-of-show (with ID) $10. www.dwtheatre.com.
