• Check out the exhibit featuring Jason Weatherspoon and Jeremy Russell in the Arts Council’s Front Gallery before it leaves on March 28.

• New Orleans refugee Christia Zelenka, manager of the Carol Robinson Gallery in that city for 12 years, is looking to build a stable of 30 artists for her new gallery on the river. Bella Vista Art will focus on “high quality” art in all media.

• La Rue’s Back Door opened quietly with an eclectic group of Asheville’s finest — there were writers, painters, musicians, dancers, actors and Cookie’s special cocktails plus his truly unique decor. Expect video projections and music — still, the place is conducive to easy conversation.

• Nonprofit Flood Gallery is an ambitious undertaking that can have a real impact on Asheville’s art scene — stay tuned …

• Asheville Art Museum docents were devastated last week to learn that Education Curator Bree Edwards is leaving. “She was closer to Dianne Dufhilo’s sincere concern for children than anyone we’ve had,” related one long-time volunteer.
