Planning your big day? Jennifer Callahan offers these words of wedding wisdom.

1. If you begin planning your wedding 12 months out, you'll save yourself a great deal of stress and be able to pick the vendors you really want to work with.
2. Reach out for help. DIY couples shouldn’t try to take on everything themselves. Look for wedding planners who offer day-of wedding services to save money and your sanity.
3. Weddings build extremely high expectations, which often lead to the death of serenity. Through the entire process, remember the planning is about the experience you will have with one person — and sharing with the people you love and who love you.
