If you like your bluegrass a little bit rough around the edges, this Friday, May 17, brings a double bill of exactly that sort of sound. Love Canon, from Charlottesville, Va. describes its picking style as if “Rocky IV, Cyndi Lauper, ZZ Top, Aha and Dire Straits played with banjo, mandolin and high lonesome vocals.” And then there’s local outfit Sanctum Sully, who’ve spent the past six months weathering a lineup change and planning for what’s shaping up to be a big summer (they’ll perform with Keller Williams, The Travelin' McCourys and Hot Tuna at Pisgah Brewing next month, for example). But Friday’s show at The Grey Eagle is all about fun. 8 p.m., $10. http://thegreyeagle.com.
