Dan Deacon

What was your craziest/most memorable Halloween night?
It was a party I threw in college with my roommate Jimmy Joe Roche. We spent a few days really making the place look awesome and getting ready. Way more people turned up than could fit, and a huge food fight ensued while Add N to X blasted out of the shitty blown PA we had "borrowed" from the a/v room of the student union. The cops came, but somehow we drunkenly convinced them what we were doing was OK, so they left and didn't come back until much later. There are some pretty awesome Polaroids from that night.

Describe (in detail) your best Halloween costume.
I think Cap'n Crunch was hands down my best costume. My girlfriend, Stefani Levin, is a costume artist, and she made most of it. I really felt like the Cap'n that night.

What would you rather be: a zombie or a robot?

A robot. Zombies seem miserable.

What's your favorite Halloween-related song?
"Who Let the Dogs Out?"

What is your favorite piece of Moog gear?
I really like my Rouge. I used it a lot on Spiderman of the Rings and I'll be using it a lot on my next record. I just got a ton of gear in the mail from Moog, all Moogerfooger stuff, and I am super excited to start messing with it. It arrived about 15 minutes ago. I can't wait to start learning them!

Who would win in a fight: analog or digital?
They don’t fight. that would be like asking if space or time would win in a fight. They are both awesome means of creating and transporting sound to a listener. Each has their strengths and their weakness. It depends on the music you want to make, and how you want to make it.

What's your favorite candy (and why)?
Reese’s Pieces. They are wonderful tasting.

Who would win in a fight: Freddy Krueger, Mike Myers, a gremlin, the Blair Witch, Freddie Mercury or you?
Are we all fighting each other? I think it depends on what you mean by "win."

Who's your favorite monster (and why)?
Godzilla. He is a wonderful beast.

What is your favorite album that features a Moog instrument?
Q: Are we not men? A: We are Devo by Devo. That’s one of my favorite albums of all time.
