Sound Check: Even the Animals

Local band Even the Animals is set to play the main stage at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall on Thursday, June 20. (8:30 p.m., $7. The lineup includes Ryan Sheffield & the High Hills and Waller.) The band is singer/songwriter Jeff Markham on guitar and vocals, Peter Van Rijssen on bass and vocals, Will Hogancamp on guitar, Drew McDaniel on guitar and Danni Iosello on drums. In advance of the show, Markham and Van Rijssen spoke to Xpress about taking the band’s name from a song lyric, the place of sentimentality in songwriting, and how to chooses a really good cover song.
