Brewgrass tickets sold out

If you haven’t purchased tickets to this year’s Great Smokies Craft Brewers Brewgrass Festival, you’re out of luck. Or, as organizer Jimi Rentz says, “You snooze, you lose.”

For the fourth year in a row, the 3,500 available tickets have sold out. Last year all tickets were grabbed up two weeks beforehand; this year they were gone a full six weeks before the September 20 suds fest.

The festival returns to its 2007 site at Martin Luther King, Jr., ball field and will run from noon to 7 p.m. Forty craft brewers from all over the country will be offering more than 100 different beers for beer lovers to sample at their leisure.

The musical lineup consists of Cadillac Sky, Dixie B-Liners, Biscuit Burners and Brushfire Stankgrass.

Last year was the first time tickets were sold on-line, which made sales easier, Rentz says. This year, tickets for the event became available on-line in April.

“Now that we’ve sold all the tickets, we definitely have to put on a show,” Rentz says.

If you didn’t score tickets this year, you can still visit one of WNC’s happening craft breweries. We’ll have an up-to-the-minute guide to area microbreweries in the September 17 edition of Mountain Xpress. Just in time for Brewgrass.

If you have tickets in hand, we’ll see you there. Don’t forget to take the bus.

For anyone interested, there will be plenty of folks selling extra tix the day of the event. Happens every year.

That’s good, kind of sucks for those who can’t buy them online. Thanks for the tip.

Possibly, but I hear scalping won’t be tolerated. Rentz told me last year the police arrested a couple folks who were trying to scalp tixs.

How terribly silly. Unless of course they were trying to make an obscene profit.
I bought mine from folks who had extras at face value.

I believe that selling at face value is perfectly legal. See you there,EM!
