Come be a part of the Mountain Xpress Fourth of July photo shoot

Yep, we know it’s last minute, but sometimes that’s how we roll. Tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Carrier Park, Xpress will be holding an impromptu Fourth of July photo shoot. We need enthusiastic participants, and you are invited! Carrier Park is at 220 Amboy Road by the French Broad River, where the Mountain Sports Festival was held.

Come wearing your most patriotic/festive/ridiculous/cookout attire. Red, white and blue, Uncle Sam hats, cheesy T-shirts, plaid shorts, etc. Children and older folks are most welcome. Props/accessories that would be great include, but are not limited to: Sparklers and flags (we will have some, but the more we can get, the better), tricycles, foam fingers, action figures, anything oversize and novelty. Also, corn on the cobs, watermelons, hot dog buns.

We’ll be firing up the grill for authenticity’s sake so bring something to throw on, if you like. Or just bring your lunch down to eat in the pavilion with us! We’ll have a good time, whatever strangeness might transpire … See you then!

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
