Come party with the Best

Get your post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas Jam party on with Xpress at the Best of WNC Showcase! We’re celebrating the soiree season and featuring some of the fine and talented winners of our annual readers’ poll with an evening of music, food and good times, all to benefit MANNA FoodBank.

We’re gonna rock out with stephaniesid (pictured), voted No. 1 rock band and No. 1 indie/noise band; The Trainwreks, voted No. 1 country/alt-country band; and DJ Bowie, winner of best DJ/turntablist.

We’ll have food from the following restaurants, each voted No. 1 in their category: Apollo Flame Bistro (Greek), Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company (Pizza and Kid-friendly), Doc Chey’s (Take-out), Greenlife (Grocery), Jersey Mike’s (Subshop and Sandwiches), The Lobster Trap (Seafood), Mela (Favorite and Indian), Mamacita’s (Cheap Lunch), Rosetta’s Kitchen (Late-night Munchies), Tomato (Latin American), 12 Bones (Barbecue) and Wasabi (Sushi).

Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door. Get ‘em at the Orange Peel box office or Web site.

See you soon!

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

There is going to be a lot more happening at the Best of WNC Showcase as well: Tom Chalmers performing an excerpt from David Sedaris’ Santaland Diaries (Best Locally Produced Play), and r. brooke priddy (Best Local Fashion Designer) doing a little fashion show. AND, the first 200 people there will get a FREE copy of the excellent music compilation CD Xpress put out this year. All for a good cause-Manna Food Bank. Oh, and to have a damn good time!
