Dancing white squirrels set new world record in Brevard

On May 29, at the White Squirrel Festival in Brevard, NC, 280 people dressed up as white squirrels and danced for over five minutes. The dancing white squirrels set a new world record for the largest number of dancers at a public setting dressed up in costume. Photos by Jonathan Welch.

    They can say “world record” and it not be certified as a “Guiness Book of World Records world record.” There’s a big difference. The Guiness people are pretty picky.

    In that photo set I see ONE white squirrel, one woman with her face painted like a cat and bunch of people with pipe cleaners on their noses. I do not see 280 white squirrels. Don’t get me started on the question if over-fed, sun-starved Caucasians twitching to music achieves actual “dancing.”

    I’ll eat a white squirrel right here and now if the Guiness people certified THAT.
