Dig Shovel Dig’s Asheville reunion

If you Google Dig Shovel Dig you get the band’s Myspace page and a number of Asheville-centric, such as a mentions in AshevilleRock.com and in the Vincent’s Ear Wikipedia.

Since leaving Asheville (bassist/foot keyboardist/vocalist Ted Robinson now lives in Brooklyn and drummer Mark Williams is in Kentucky), Dig Shovel Dig has continued to record music. Listen to their latest album, American with 2 East Coasts and download it here.

The band is set to play a reunion show of sorts on Friday, May 20, at The Get Down. “drunky-tonk” artist Tony Wain also performs. The show and subsequent tour is in support of Lexington, Key.‘s Jovontaes (Mark Murray on guitar and electronics, Reid Small on drums and vocals, Josh Blaine on bass and home modified electronics).

You can watch Tony Wain on Mount Dungeon here:

and Dig Shovel Dig here:

The Friday night lineup also includes Niche (from Georgia) and Soft Opening.

Dig Shovel Dig, Jovontaes and Tony Wain put in an appearance at Static Age Records on Saturday (along with Doom Ribbons, The Treatment, One Timers and Ahleuchatistas) as part of Record Store Day. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
