1. You guys have way too much time on your hands.

Actually, me and another video story buddy are planning to do this as well.

You guys have way too much time on your hands

Actually, you have no idea how much trouble it is getting this scheduled. Of course, I’m never the problem. It’s that gadabout Justin whose dance card is always full.

Actually, me and another video story buddy are planning to do this as well

Damn. We were going to ask you if we could do this from your store on occasion.

Truth to tell, I listened to this, which surprises me because I very rarely listen to anything I’ve recorded. (Yes, that does mean I’ve never heard any of those DVD audio commentaries I’ve done.) And I was surprised that I didn’t absolutely feel like crawling away to die of embarassment the entire time. (Well, there were moments.) Steve did a good job editing us into marginal coherence.

I’m accustomed to ruthlessly slaughtering your precious words. Now I just get to do it in a new medium.

I’m also a little surprised you aren’t giving me a hard time about the intro music. I think I deserved to be mocked a little for it.

  4. Damn. We were going to ask you if we could do this from your store on occasion.

Planning for me means about five years in the future.

You’re more than welcome to stop on by.

Well, it wouldn’t have been my choice, but… Maybe Justin will mock you later.

I have no need to mock. I’m more worried that we weren’t quite as elitist and bastardly as the title might suggest.

I shall affect a George Sanders-like condescending sneer next time.

Ken, I totally agree with you about the “monkey stampede.” I really do think you’re on to something.

Ken, I totally agree with you about the “monkey stampede.” I really do think you’re on to something.

If you can track down a bootleg (Universal seems disinclined to do anything with so much of the Paramount holdings) of The Jungle Princess (1936), you’ll get an even better idea of the possibilities!

If you do a search from within Mountain Xpress the podcast doesn’t show up. If you do a search from Google for Mountain Xpress Elitist Bastards go to the movies the podcast does show up.

  11. Ken Hanke

Never mind looks like it takes it a minute to load

That’s odd. It loaded right up for me. As for where it is, the webtech gentleman is working on a way to set up a link to it from the main movie page.

  12. Ken Hanke

As one of those hideously socially-challenged people who doesn’t own an iPod, this is a mystery to me, but I’m checking into it.

  13. Hey! I got an (oblique) mention!

Are you going to answering fan mail and readers’ questions in future episodes?

Great fun guys. Looking forward to further Elitist Bastardy.

And I cannot help but concur with the Monkey Stampede Rule.

  14. Sean

Yeah, I’d subscribe to this as well if it’s available as a podcast. Otherwise I’ll just forget about it.

If you publish it to a blog (like on blogspot or equivalent (free)) I/we could add it to a feed reader. Let me know if I can help.

Hey! I got an (oblique) mention!

    Real plugs require real bribes.

Are you going to answering fan mail and readers’ questions in future episodes?

If some sends them, we’ll answer ’em.

Looking forward to further Elitist Bastardy

We’re recording again tomorrow. Bastardy will run riot.

  16. Ken Hanke

Yeah, I’d subscribe to this as well if it’s available as a podcast. Otherwise I’ll just forget about it.

I will be talking to Mr. Shanafelt about this tomorrow.

  17. Ken Hanke

OK, there’ll be a new one as soon as Mr. Shanafelt makes us sound coherent. He tells me there is a way of downloading these manually, but he didn’t tell me how. (I suspect he thought my eyes would glaze over as they usually do when this sort of thing is explained to me.) He did, however, say that an easy download feature is in the works.

  18. brebro

Yeah, I wanted to download it and listen to it on my iPod while running, or such things, but since that option is not available, I transcribed the entire podcast and taped it to the outside of the iPod to read later, instead.

  19. Is this available as an actual podcast? As in, one I can download and put on my iPod?

We’ve got a few minor technical hurdles to overcome, hosting and RSS feed-wise, before we apply to iTunes for syndication. But starting with the next one I’ll at least make sure there’s a direct download option for the MP3.

  20. Sean

Sweet. Thanks. Also, fyi, you can podcast without the blessing of Apple. ;^) Just setup a blogger (or other free hosted blog) account and attach the mp3s as blog entries. Then any feed reader will treat it as a podcast. Thanks for the effort!

    Sean

  21. Ken Hanke

OK, there’ll be a new one as soon as Mr. Shanafelt makes us sound coherent

We must be particularly incoherent this week. I can peek behind the curtain and see the new poddery sitting there — with the word “draft” beside it and the phrase “Needs Approval” at the end. “Needs Approval”? Don’t we all?

  22. When’s the second episode of this damn podcast going to turn up? I was hoping I’d have it to listen to in time for my evening jog tonight. If it’s not up in the next three hours, I’ll have to settle for Little Richard.

  23. Ken Hanke

I hope so, but if you think anyone’s going to find your post or my response, I am skeptical. Yes, skeptical.

  24. Ken Hanke

Because — unless you’re on a notification list of people who posted here a year ago, you’re not likely to know anyone posted anything now. Steve should perhaps consider a link to this from the comments on the current edition.
