Entertainment cancellations for this weekend

• Club 828 is open tonight with a Hip Hop dance party featuring Blame Money Entertainment.

• Hookah Bar says, “Dj A.d.d.ict is joint Selector Cleofus for the Temple of Shroom at The Hookah Bar. Parking lot is plowed and roads are clean. We are open!”

• Rocket Club reports, “Monotonix is on. Soft Opening and Thee Birds ov Paradise will start it off.”

• The Garage at Biltmore WILL BE OPEN all night tonight for The Asheville Full Moon Gathering

• From NC Stage: “Some Beautiful Johanna cast members can’t get to theatre. Tonight’s performance cancelled. Still on for the make up performance on Sunday at 2 p.m.

• Kinjac will perform tonight at Emerald Lounge.

• The Grey Eagle reports, “Due to the inclement weather and current road conditions in our area, tonight’s Asheville Wintergrass concert hosted by Town Mountain has been cancelled.” However, at this time the Found Footage Festival, scheduled for Sunday, is still on despite the snow! 8pm, $10.

• Malaprop’s is closed for today.

•  The Wine Studio reports, “Open today and ready to pour some yummy bianco & rosso! Tasting til 6, Open til 8!”

• Stella Blue will be open tonight. “Tonight at Stella Blue – Scott Miller (V-Roys, Common Wealth), w/ members of Hay Sugar opening. Downstairs, doors at 9 p.m.”

• Sadly, “Due to inclimate weather conditions, the HaitiPalooza benefit [Emerald Lounge, Ed Boudreaux’s] has been postponed. If you feel so inclined to contribute, PLEASE donate. All funds go DIRECTLY to Haiti; no red tape.”

• Chameleon Soul Food on Merrimon Ave. still plans to host the The Agobi Project CD release party tonight as planned.

• The benefit for Hall Fletcher feat: The Jr.‘s & The Cropdusters slated for Ed Boudreaux’s tonight has been cancelled. However, Ed Boudreaux’s is open.

• Captain Midnight from Nashville cancelled for tonight at Westville Pub, but local musician Woody Pines says he will perform with a “stripped down band … 6-8pm! Freeeeee!” Tonight. Pierce Edens & The Dirty Work also plays. Nice save, guys!

Russ Wilson & His Mighty Mighty Men will be at Jack of the Wood tonight as scheduled.

The Orange Peel reports, “The Matt Stillwell show has been postponed and will be re-scheduled at a later date.”

• Tressa’s reports that the club will be open tonight (Friday) but Taylor Moor and the Bordeaux Brothers will not perform. Stop in for house music; come in Saturday for Peggy Ratusz & Daddy Longlegs.

• Mo Daddy’s is open (Friday); Johnson Crossroad w/ Paul Edelman will perform at 9 p.m.

• Jack of the Wood is open and still plans to host Scrapomatic (feat. Mike Mattison, lead vocalist of the Derek Trucks Band) w/ opener Paco Shipp. Friday, 9 p.m.

• The After Elvis show at The Boiler Room is cancelled tonight (Friday); Eleven on Grove is also closed but a Grove House representative says “TJ Is four-wheel driving and will keep Scandals open for the people who live downtown and want to drink.” Party on.

Blue Mountain Pizza will stay open, power allowing. The Acoustic Swing performance is cancelled for tonight (Friday).

• NineMile is open Friday night. “Tonight’s special – grilled mahi w/ sweet potatoes w/ a grilled banana-pineapple chutney & sauteed broccoli in a white wine butter sauce.”

• Rocket Club is open tonight; however the Mind Shape Fist/Supercollider/Ironside show for tonight (Friday) has been cancelled.A club representative said that the club will remain open for tomorrow’s Monotonix show “come hell or high water.” Despite reports that Monotonix’s lead singer broke his leg, the band is playing Charlotte tonight and plans to play Asheville tomorrow.

Highland Brewery, just announced plans to reschedule tonight’s Big Daddy Love show for another time.

• Malaprop’s has closed for today (Friday); plans to reopen tomorrow at 10 a.m. Tonight’s Joseph Gatins event has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

• Stella Blue plans on opening tonight (Friday) with Borgota, The Poles and Opus Grey. 9pm.

• The Nova Echo just announced that their Club 828 show tonight (Friday) is cancelled. Check the band’s Myspace page for a reschedule date.

• This just in from Willie Nelson’s publicist: “The Willie Nelson concert at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium has been postponed (due to inclement weather).  The original show date of Saturday, Jan. 30 will be rescheduled. Patrons should hold onto their tickets. Those tickets will be good for the rescheduled show. Further information about a new show date will come later next week.”

• The Asheville Full Moon Gathering currently plans to go forward with its Saturday show at The Garage at Biltmore. Here’s the update: “We are crossing our fingers that the storm coming our way this evening will be well handled by the city of Asheville in that we can do our thing tomorrow night at The Garage. As of right now we do not intend to cancel the gathering, and we will make that call tomorrow around lunch if we feel it is necessary.”

• The Absolute Theatre Company auditions for the musical Annie scheduled for Saturday have been postponed because of weather until Saturday, Feb. 6. All times and instructions apply for the 6th as well (9 a.m.: all girls 6-14 for orphans as well as for the lead role of “Annie”.  Annie must look between the ages of 9-11 and sing well. 11:30 a.m.: all male and females for chorus ages 15-70. This includes the solo parts and small speaking roles. The Chorus is diverse and the director is looking for all types, shape and sizes.  Leads will be seen at 1:30 p.m. This includes Miss Hannigan, Daddy Warbucks, Grace, Rooster, Lily, Roosevelt, and Burt Healy). • Salsa’s reports: “Open for lunch as usual today. We will be open for dinner tonight but plan on closing early due to the weather conditions coming our way. So come early to get your grub on! Dinner starts at 5pm. oh…and the city parking garages are free today and tomorrow!”

• The Orange Peel reports, “Due to the impending winter storm, the Delbert McClinton show has been rescheduled to Friday, April 9. All tickets already purchased will be honored at the April 9 show. If you are unable to attend the new show date, go to the box office if you purchased tickets at the Orange Peel for a refund; contact Ticketweb for a refund if you purchased tickets online or over the phone. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

• The Asheville Lyric Opera has rescheduled its performance of Don Pasqaule at Diana Wortham Theatre from Friday to Sunday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. with a pre-show lecture at 2 p.m. in the Forum. Friday tickets are redeemable for Sunday’s performance. Info: 257-4530.

• According to The Haen Gallery, “The reception for A Wintry Mix is POSTPONED until Saturday, February 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m.” Click here for information on that exhibit.

• The Grove Park Inn still plans to hold it’s All That Jazz weekend.

• UPDATE: “As of 5:15PM: Tonight’s Justin Townes Earle show will go on as scheduled!” Currently, The Grey Eagle plans to go forward with its Friday Justin Townes Earl show, Saturday Asheville Wintergrass and Sunday Found Footage Festival. • Radio station 98.1 The River still plans to host The Asheville Horns in studio at 4 p.m. today (Friday).

UPDATE: “8 p.m. Show is still on! We have cancelled our 10:30 for tonight.”  Funny Business Comedy Club plans to remain open for Justin Leon and Tj Young tonight (Friday) at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

• Good news for those who need to stock up on the vino: “We will be open this weekend!! Grab your snowshoes and come on down!” reports The Wine Studio.

• UPDATE: NC STAGE show cancelled for Friday. NC Stage reports, “Due to the possibility of inclement weather, we have ADDED a performance of The Beautiful Johanna this Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. We are watching the weather closely today. We’ll have a final determination soon, but if you have tickets for this evening’s performance you are welcome to reschedule for Saturday or Sunday with no penalty. Thanks for your understanding!” Info: 239-0236.

• SJA Players’ performance of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Talkies, slated for tomorrow (Saturday) has been rescheduled for next Friday, Feb. 5. About the show: A group of silent film icons are murder suspects in this comedy. Written and directed by the SJA Players. $10, includes dinner. At St. Joan of Arc Church, 768 Asbury Rd., Candler. • Pisgah Brewery has postponed the Jeff Sipe Trio show previously scheduled for Saturday.

• Asheville Green Drinks at BoBo Gallery is cancelled tonight (Friday). The group reports that next week two monks will discuss Peace and the Environment.

• French Broad Brewery still plans to host Woody Wood tonight (Friday) from 6-8 p.m.

    Saturday’s Willie Nelson show officially postponed for “weather reasons”…Twiiter rumors (redundant?) aside;)

    Brushfire Stankgrass, scheduled to perform at the French Broad Brewery tonight, will not be performing as we received word that the Brewery is CLOSED today due to weather.

    Hmmm…I heard ol’ Willie’s bus was yet again, searched by the law, and somebody had something on the bus.
    Sheesh,,,,can’t they leave him alone fer crickey sakes!
