Face-melting vibraphone

Percussionist/vocalist Mike Dillon is one-third of punk/jazz trio Dead Kenny Gs; but the Mike Dillon Band (whose bio states, “We like to melt faces with the vibraphone”) is a different breed of band. Dillon plays that face-melting vibraphone in this punk-edged dance party quartet.

Here, they play “Lunatic Express”:

Dillon was just at Asheville Music Hall last month. Now he and his band return to open for Chicago-based jam band Strange Arrangement.

If you’ve got a spare 13 minutes, check out this video of Strange Arrangement performing at The Park West:

Thursday, Aug. 23 at Asheville Music Hall. 10 p.m. Advance tickets are $8, or $10 day of show. Or, you can win a pair of tickets to the show from Xpress, via Facebook, tomorrow in the noon hour.
