Lizz Free Or Die

If comedian Lizz Winstead had a dinner party, she’d need a pretty big table. Satirist Jon Stewart would be there, along with political commentator Rachel Maddow and hip hop artist Chuck D.

Lizz Winstead brought these and countless other voices to the airwaves as co-creator of The Daily Show and co-founder of Air America (the progressive talk radio station that went off the air in 2010).

Now Winstead is the star and she’s coming to the Grey Eagle on Saturday, April 14. “Lizz takes on hypocrisy with a brilliant razor sharp wit, hitting all the big guys who chose to abuse their power. From Beck to Bachmann, Healthcare to Hedge funds, no one is exempt from a hilarious jab,” reads the Grey Eagle website.

Her first book, Lizz Free Or Die, will be released next month. It hasn’t hit the shelves yet, but it’s already made a big impression on comedian Sarah Silverman. “Reading Lizz Winstead’s hilarious collection of very personal essays somehow leaves you changed. You laugh, and yet there are nutrients in her words.”

When Winstead is not on stage, she writes for The Guardian, The Huffington Post and blogs at lizzwinstead.com. Her Twitter feed is both hilarious and poignant, a perfect mix for anyone who wants to laugh at our crooked political system.

Saturday, April 14, 8 p.m. at the Grey Eagle. $15/$12 in advance for this fully seated show. Info and tickets: www.thegreyeagle.com.
