Metal showcase comes to The LAB

If you’re of the opinion that there isn’t enough metal in Asheville, you won’t want to miss sludge metal trio Weedeater. Formed in the late ‘90s in Wilmington, the group has released four albums. Last year’s Jason…The Dragon took longer than expected because lead singer “Dixie” Dave Collins accidentally shot off his big toe.

Hey, these things happen. But now, with extremities mended and album released, Weedeater is on an east coast tour that takes them to a dozen states. The play The LAB onWednesday, April 18. ASG (“North Carolina’s gnarliest band,” from Wilmington) and Cough (sludge/doom from Richmond, Va.) also perform. 8:30 p.m. doors, 9:15 p.m. show. $12.
