One-night only! The Faces of Asheville pre-exhibit exhibit

Eager for a glimpse of the almost 350 portraits that make up the upcoming Faces of Asheville exhibit? They’re likely some of your friends and neighbors—maybe even you. The exhibit also features the last portrait taken of Asheville artist and river district pioneer John Payne.

On Monday, the One Night Only Pre-Exhibit Exhibit for the Faces of Asheville photo documentary project will be at the Orange Peel. The event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Along with the photos, the entertainment includes music and aerial feats: Snake Oil Medicine Show, Nikki Talley, Space Medicine and the Libravado Sisters aerial acrobats. There will be speakers, too: writer/blogger Bruce Mulkey, arts activist Sara Widenhouse, city councilman Carl
Mumpower, professor Robert Yearout, Michael Harney of the Western North Carolina AIDS Project, and more.

All project participants attend free—just give your name at the door. Community tickets are available for a suggested donation of $15 at the Orange Peel’s website. The event is planned to raise money for the final printing of archival-quality images that will be displayed downtown in June at Satellite Gallery.

No sorry, food got nixed. Recession made us cut back, so it’ll be a good time but only the OP bar available.

You said your son had a portrait in this – who is he? :-) See you tonight!
