Peace, Love and Purple: Purple Ball fashion photos

If you missed the Asheville Area Arts Council‘s Purple Ball fashion show held Sunday, April 20, Xpress was backstage and in the audience to catch the action. And if you were there, here’s your chance to revisit the best fashions from local designers and boutiques. Photographer Maggie West took these shots.

    ah unibrows and dressed dogs..
the expressions on the audiences faces on photo ‘Purple Ball 8’ is very telling.

ahem…. there were several TALENTED and CREATIVE people who worked very hard to make this show a reality!
    IT REALLY WAS A BLAST!
    what’s with the sarcasm?
in MY opinion (and I am NOT sorry for it…) it’s NICER to keep your mouth closed if nothing nice is going to come out of it!
    have a lovely day!

While Xpress hopes to provide a forum for all opinions, x4real has a valid point: Fashion is subjective and reducing a show to “unibrows and dressed dogs” is unfair. The fashion show covered many tastes and points of view and featured some innovative pieces. Like ’em or not, our local designers are doing much to put our burgeoning fashion scene on the national map. It’s rare for a city of under 100,000 residents to be able to boast so many artistic endeavors. That deserves some positive support.
