Push Asheville Fashion returns!

Love local fashion? So does Sonia Hendrix, the tour de force behind Push Asheville Fashion. Hendrix first conceived the fashion show last year as a student at AB Tech and the VP of projects for Phi Beta Lambda. Her idea, she explained to Xpress, was that, “During this time of great economic strain the community must support its local businesses.  What better way to showcase clothing than with a fashion runway show; a marketing method used at all levels in the fashion industry.” Read last year’s story here.

This year, Hendrix is back with an expanded vision. The 2010 Push Asheville Fashion, slated for The Orange Peel on Friday, July 16 so far incorporates two runway shows, local designers, items to purchase, spontaneous couture, pet fashion, a fundraiser and a DJ collective.

To learn a little more, with the Push Productions intro:

There’s a celebrity element to this affair, too. Project Runway contestant and Hatch Asheville 2009 mentor Elisa Jimenez will return to Asheville and, as part of the Push event, design — on stage! — two dresses on two models in 30 minutes. The dresses will then be auctioned off to benefit MYMPAC‘s Asheville to Weaverville greenway project.

Look for updates and more info on Push Asheville Fashion in the coming weeks; for now check out Hendrix’s video interviews with local boutiques.
