Candler-based three-piece Waking September (Jesse Frizsell on guitar and vocals, Colten Emery on drums and Chris Brittian on bass) play that kind of straightforward rock that, while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, is familiar and fist-pumpingly tried-and-true. The band claims its influences range from hair metal to country to pop. Waking September takes the stage at Emerald Lounge on Saturday, June 1. Subkonscious (power rock from Chattanooga, Tenn.) and A Course of Action (hard rock from Connelly Springs, NC) also perform. 9 p.m., $5.
