Smart Bets web extra: Drunken Prayer

Portland/Asheville(ish) band Drunken Prayer rolls back into Asheville this month, starting with a show at Mike’s Side Pocket (375 Haywood Rd., West Asheville) on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Front man Morgan Christopher Geer does not come to town empty handed. According to a press release, “Fluff & Gravy Records will release Drunken Prayer’s sophomore full-length, Into the Missionfield, an eleven track collection of dark tales and darker melodies” and “They have been touring across the west coast and southwest for the past two weeks in support of a new Christmas 7-inch red vinyl (featuring The Krektones).” Listen to the holiday soon-to-be classic, “Look Ma, I’m Drunk (And Crying)” here:

Drunken Prayer also plays The Get Down on New Year’s Eve. The Mike’s Side Pocket show this weekend starts at 8 p.m.
