A zigzag shaped runway filled The Millroom at Asheville Brewing Co. for the third night of Asheville Fashion Week. Lights flashed as if it were a rave as photographers captured each model as they walked the runway styled in original Asheville fashion.

The model who trips is usually the odd one out; however, tonight it was rare to see a model keep her balance. A step in the runway became a hassle for many, and toward the end it was almost a joke amongst the guests as they passed glances right before each model approached the step.

No model let the small misplacement of balance deter them from their purpose, looking fierce while showcasing each designer’s work of art.

“Asheville has always embraced the arts,” says Jaime Hemsley, founder of Gage Talent Agency. “We have awesome artists — because that’s art, designing stuff,” she continues.

Designers for the third night, Fashion in Film & Emerging Designer Runway Shows, include Xen by Rachele, Tricia Ellis, Wildflower Bridal, Diamond Brand and Kat Dog Couture.

“There are so many great things that come from it besides the models getting high-fashion portfolio shots and designers getting showcased. You have everyone within the fashion industry here,” says Hemsley.

The final night of Asheville Fashion Week takes place Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, 31 Woodfin St. The event consists of two parts, the Children & Emerging Model / Teen Fashion Runway at 3 p.m., and Grand Finale Couture Runway Show at 8 p.m. Cocktails and jazz will fill the time between the shows.
