Smart Bets: Allan Wolf

On July 20, people across the world will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin walking on the moon. That day at The Hop Ice Cream Cafe, Asheville-based writer Allan Wolf will present “Metaphors Be With You: Poems from Space” in its entirety, an eclectic program based on his new collection, The Day the Universe Exploded My Head: Poems to Take You Into Space and Back Again. Illustrated by “the amazing” — Wolf’s words — Anna Raff, the book will also be the focus of the author’s presentation on Saturday, March 16, at Malaprop’s. The afternoon will include a few highlights from the full “Metaphors” program, which Wolf describes as a mix of “music, costumes, puppets, participation, amazing facts and a lot of poetry.” The reading begins at 4 p.m. Free to attend. malaprops.com.
