13th annual Spring Green Bash held on Green River in Saluda May 4

Saluda, NC (May 4, 2019) – Get ready for an exciting day full of kayaking trips, waterfall rappelling and treks, Oskar Blues beer and music by the Aaron Burdett Band when the Spring Green Bash, Saluda’s favorite river and block party, returns on May 4.

What: 13th Annual Spring Green Bash

Who: presented by Green River Adventures and sponsored by MountainTrue, Prestige Subaru of Asheville, Oskar Blues Brewery, WNCW 88.7 FM, Liquid Logic Kayaks, Astral Designs, and The Gorge Zipline. Music by the Aaron Burdett Band.

When: Saturday, May 4, 5:00-9 p.m.

 

“We’re so glad to be joining our friends at Green River Adventures as the nonprofit beneficiaries of the Spring Green Bash again this year,” says Gray Jernigan, MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeeper, “It’s always a blast and a great time for folks to get outside, celebrate the Green River and our awesome community.”

“It’s going to be another great party this year to kick off a season of fun in our beautiful Green River Gorge,” says Sara Bell, Co-Owner of Green River Adventures. “We’re thankful for all of the work the Green Riverkeeper does to keep the Green River watershed beautiful for all of the people and businesses that enjoy it!”

The excitement starts bright and early at 8:30 a.m. with an inflatable kayaking trip down the Upper Green River, and continues throughout the day with a choose-your-own-adventure list of activities, all guided by the professional staff of Green River Adventures. Full Schedule of River Activities:

  • 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Upper Green Inflatable Kayak Trip. A high-adventure, heart-pumping whitewater experience down one of the steepest commercially-run sections of whitewater in the Southeastern United States.

  • 9:00 a.m-1 p.m. – Big Bradley Waterfall Rappel. This 200-ft rappel down the Big Bradley Waterfall starts off down a 30-ft vertical rock face and then down one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the region.

  • 1-5 p.m. – Waterfall Trek. This amphibious hiking adventure combines rappelling, canyoning, swimming, sliding, hiking and boulder-hopping along spectacular waterfalls and wilderness.

  • 1-4 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. – Lower Green Inflatable Kayak Trips. This 3-mile section of the Lower Green offers easily navigated rapids, beautiful scenery and tons of fun for the entire family.

 

At 5 p.m. the whole Green River community is invited to the Spring Green Bash block party at Green River Adventures in downtown Saluda. We’ll enjoy great beer from Oskar Blues Brewing and music by the Aaron Burdett Band. The Green River will also announce the winner of a charity raffle for a LiquidLogic Remix XP 10 in Blue Ice, a whitewater kayak valued at $1,000. Proceeds from the raffle benefit MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeeper –  the protector and defender of the Green River Watershed. Gray Jernigan, MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeeper will be at the block party to talk to members of our river community and enjoy the festivities. MountainTrue is one of the few organizations in the nation with four Waterkeeper Alliance programs, the Green Riverkeeper, French Broad Riverkeeper, the Watauga Riverkeeper and the Broad Riverkeeper. The Riverkeeper programs are key to MountainTrue’s endeavors to monitor and protect the quality of our region’s waterways.
