3rd Annual Winter Concert Series begins at Colonial Theatre in Canton

An Area Tradition Presented by Local Band, Balsam Range

Canton, NC – The award-winning band, Balsam Range, kicked-off the start to a series of concerts at the Colonial Theatre from January through April, titled “3rd Annual Winter Concert Series”.

Tickets are available at the Colonial Theatre Box Office Monday – Friday from 8am – 4pm at 53 Park St. Canton NC, 28716. This year guests can expect a variety of musical delights ranging in style and experience.

Balsam Range consists of five men native to this region. Bluegrass is what this band is about, but equally important are the aspects of Gospel and Country Music style that they bring to the stage. Balsam Range and John Driskell Hopkins, a member of the Zac Brown Band, performed on January 5th, initiating the start of the concert series.

“Balsam Range is a great band that draws visitors from all over the region to hear them perform,” explains Lynn Collins, Director of the Haywood County Tourism Development Authority. “They blend their bluegrass roots with folk, gospel and jazz, giving our tourists a satisfying taste of our musical heritage in Western North Carolina.”

Missy Raines & The New Hip blur the lines between jazz, bluegrass, and rhythm’n’blues — redefining the acoustic/electric/hybrid landscape. The New Hip, led by multi award-winning bassist Missy Raines, delivers a powerful punch of groove-based lines, and soulful vocals.

Balsam Range & Cordle, Jackson and Salley

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Multi- Grammy award-winning trio Cordle, Jackson & Salley recorded the song “You’re Running Wild,” on the Louvin Brothers Tribute on Universal South Records, which features numerous country music stars singing songs made famous by the legendary duo. Entitled Livin’, Lovin’, Losin’: Songs of the Louvin Brothers, this project won the 2004 Grammy for Country Album Of The Year. The trio tours across the country and performs the hits they wrote for others.
