Press release:

Amazon women to be discussed during Women’s History Month at A-B Tech

A-B Tech Adjunct Instructor, Dr. Cecile-Marie Sastre, will be present a program on “Amazons: The Real Wonder Women of Antiquity” at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 in Ferguson Auditorium on the college’s Asheville Campus.

As part of Women’s History Month, Sastre will share her insights into the archaeological research of the past 20 years, which indicates that Amazons were not just a figment of the Greeks’ imagination, as was formerly thought. Sastre’s fields of study include anthropology/archaeology, languages/linguistics, paleography and geology. She has a doctorate in history from Florida State University and has graduate-level archaeology training.
