UPDATE: Lockdown over at AB-Tech campus, suspect arrested

UPDATE: From tweets and emails, there are reports that a suspect was apprehended with a firearm on the AB-Tech campus.

UPDATE:After about 15-minutes the all-clear was transmitted at the campus. More details as they become known.

According to students at the campus, an alarm went off shortly past 10:40 a.m.: From an email to Xpress — “There is some kind of alarm going off on campus, but no one knows what it is like tornado sounding alarms they’ve said to stay in a locked room until further notice.”

From a text message: “initiate SECURE IN PLACE procedures immediately. Close and lock doors, stay away from doors and windows. Await further instruction from emergency personnel.”

No confirmation as yet, but another source says a man with a gun was seen on the campus.

According to the AB-Tech website, “Secure In Place” is the alert given when an incident or situation is occurring on campus and evacuation would pose a greater threat to human life.
